Replaced two York YAES 0565 BSA air cooled chillers with Daikin energy efficient inverter EWAD 570TZ-SS-B2 screw chillers.

Klimatec was asked by a Midlands-based treatment facility to replace two York chillers. The job required several key stages, including disconnection, isolation, crane lift and commissioning.

The team disconnected the units and ensured volt free control whilst enabling alarm cabling from each chiller. They isolated and disconnected the chilled water and made ready to lift from the rooftop via crane.

• Added new Y strainers, rubber bellows and binder test points to each chiller

Once the chillers were lifted away from the rooftop, where they will go onto a licenced disposal,, the new Daikin chillers were loaded onto the roof Lift new chiller to roof and set on AV mounts. Each chiller would be installed separately.

The team carried out modifications to the flow and return chilled water pipes and connected up the new chiller which incorporated a new Y strainer, rubber bellows and binder test points. The system were flushed, pressure tested, filled and vented. Once connected to the mains power, the flow rate was adjusted and the first chiller was commissioned. The second chiller was then setup in the same way.
